Excellent

This course was really good. It is better than others I have done online. It is really helpful to identify and give some detail on CSE, CCE, Child Trafficking, County Lines, Cuckooing, Cyberbullying, Grooming, Radicalisation, FGC and Breast ironing which are often mentioned in passing in other training. I have also never seen Faith Abuse included in Safeguarding Training before so that was interesting. There are also some really good links to further information and support which I have made a note of e.g. Bullying UK.

Quick, concise, informative and helpful

The course was really relevant to my work. It contained a great deal of information to help identify the different forms of abuse and what to do, and to whom a referral should be directed should this be necessary. A great delivery channel and well explained in a concise manner.

Downplays issues of patriarchy and power

This course is let down by an unwillingness to acknowledge fully the impact of patriarchy and power dynamics. Most abusers are men - it puts an unhelpful slant on the nature of abuse by implying it is as likely to be perpetrated by women as men. I also found it very disturbing that we are encouraged to 'go with our gut'. We live in a society that encourages us not to make a fuss, particularly if it means reporting someone in power - more often than not a man. Therefore, our guts are more likely to try to downplay or minimise, than to tell us we should speak up. It would be far more helpful to encourage learners to practise self-reflection.
