In the real world we would have no time to actually do our job if we were continually opening all obstacle doors (and then closing them again) on the routes that we are carrying trays to and from and up and down the stairs to other labs. We are travelling these routes all day, every day. Having doors that are kept open would be the only way to improve the health and safety of our job.
