good refresher
I find that simply reading pages and pages of material on a computer screen extremely tedious and an inefficient way of learning, I had to take several days to complete the course because I simply fell asleep after a few pages of text! Undoubtedly, the information given was very comprehensive but, as with several of these compulsory courses, little of it seemed to be relevant to my role as an invigilator who only sees stressed students under exam conditions when there is little opportunity have any conversation with them, let alone get to know them or to observe what is normal for them.
I live and work in Scotland and the legislation in this course only pertains to the laws for England and Wales. As we have 6 Scottish schools and more than 50 staff doing this course I feel that Thomas Franks should look into the separation of the training and legislation the training looks at.
It is worthwhile reading every line of this very important course as it provides us with pragmatic information that we can use in our daily practice to safeguard pupils and constantly look out for their wellbeing and welfare.
