The course was clear, well sectioned and the test helped confirm understanding. From previous personal experience both here at St John's and in other organisations, the value of practice with fire extinguishers helps build confidence, and overcome fear of using specialist equipment to tackle fires, where appropriate. This important element is missing from a purely theoretical course.

The course was clear, well sectioned and the test helped confirm understanding. From previous personal experience both here at St John's and in other organisations, the value of practice with fire extinguishers helps build confidence, and overcome fear of using specialist equipment to tackle fires, where appropriate. This important element is missing from a purely theoretical course.

The course is well presented, but the fire extinguisher section presents too much information all at once about what the different classes of fires are so ends up confusing. More repetition is needed of what a Class x fire is, for example by having a quick reference panel across the top of the screen with the different types of fire during this section and leaving the types of extinguishers down the side with 'class ABC power' etc next to each. So rather than saying 'water extinguishers can't be used on Class B fires', it would be better to say 'water extinguishers can't be used on liquid fires like burning oil', with a graphic showing that's a Class B fire.

Stop using double-negative questions. It only leads to confusion and undoubtedly results in a fail when the candidate is more than sufficiently capable of passing such rudimentary multiple choice questionnaire !
