The course was well presented, in short segments and an effective style of instruction. My only comment for improvement is that in previous years, at St John's and in other organisations I have worked, their has been a practical element using fire extinguishers to tackle different types of fire. This provides useful experience of handling the equipment, and allows staff to overcome fears associated with operating each type of extinguisher.
The course was clear, well sectioned and the test helped confirm understanding. From previous personal experience both here at St John's and in other organisations, the value of practice with fire extinguishers helps build confidence, and overcome fear of using specialist equipment to tackle fires, where appropriate. This important element is missing from a purely theoretical course.
