Overall, the Fire Awareness training was delivered in an easy-to-understand format and was well presented. Unfortunately, because of the number of different types of fire and extinguishers, the presentation was far too long (especially as Fire Awareness came immediately after the Manual Handling presentation). By the time it came to take the quiz, my attention span had diminished somewhat. (This has been reported to my employer, as I believe that both presentations should not be run one immediately after the other.) I had an issue with the " identifying potential sources of fire" exercise. Using a side-to-side motion, I was initially unable to get the mouse to remain on the "trailing cables" long enough to click; it was only after moving the mouse downwards that I was able to select the cables! We also had some local IT issues which I will raise with my employer, but it should be pointed out to The Interactive Health & Safety Company that they should advise employers that workstations need to be properly set up in advance before employees run the CD. The main issue we had was the inability to automatically print our certificate without first having to install a printer (The course was not run at my usual workstation).

Keeps your attention and encourages memorising the content. Encourages finding out about fire equipment before a fire occurs.

Easy to complete, there were a few questions i.e. how many businesses do not re-open after a fire, that I feel were irrelevant to the learning and therefore got wrong as i was too busy trying to remember the nitty gritty!

easy to follow with good graphics. I like the fact that the course can be done at ones own pace. I did this course at home which also helped my concentration i.e on my own with no distraction from a group.

a clear training programme which achieves its goal of instruction. a good mix of visiual senarios, plain english with no jargon and excellent programme

I feel I have gained useful knowledge and hope I never have to apply it in real life!

The course was sufficiently detailed for a good understanding of fire safety, and the ability to leave and return to the topics was very helpful. It was excellent that you can use the subtitles rather than having to have speakers. It is very worthwhile making notes as you progress through the modules. These act as an aide memoire when taking the test.
