Engaging, learnt something new

The course length was accurate. Seeing the narrator at the start helped build a connection with him. The animations of the spread of fire helped: for instance, I have always had difficulty matching fire extinguisher to fire type - the animation of the spread of oil helped reinforce that water extinguishers should not be used on oil based fires, as it will spread the oil and therefore the fire. There was little repetition of course material - the little that you had was a summary, and did not get in the way. There was one video which could be lengthened - the cost or causes of fire: I thought there was a bit missing from the subtitles here, and I thought you did not expound the full slide. I am both a visual and audio learner, so I found the mix of subtitles and video useful - the text at the side, rather than traditional subtitles was useful as it meant I could scan ahead of time, try to make sense of it and use the videos to test myself! I think in future, there should be an option to choose text or videos - some people prefer to read than watch videos - with the caveat that some (i.e the demonstration videos) must be watched. Having taken many MOOCS and other online courses, I found this to be a very good example. I am encouraged to take the other courses available to me on this system. Thank you.

I thought it covered everything I need to to know about fire safety in the workplace.

slides and videos did not all work

If all slides and video worked it would improve the experience

Really slow, and the test had at least 4 questions the same just worded differently.

Good quality learning experience, videos very comprehensive

Some of the question answers are badly worded / formed and if you get a question wrong it suggests you go back over a section but does not allow you to with out starting the whole thing again. This is a shame because through each section there is an obvious and good back button.

Very informative

The questions tested knowledge and how much time had been spent absorbing the information

I've done the course and got full marks

It's a good course and well presented. I like it but it's too long and I would like Lions to be able skip some parts. There are serious problems with delivery over the internet though. It's just not good enough. I think we need it on CD or DVD because the supplier's internet delivery is not good enough. The problems I had were: - slow responses from their server - a missing slide producing "error 404" part way through but it skipped that successfully. - badly stuttering and hesitating video - really unwatchable. I would have abandoned it except that I wanted to review it for Lions. - their "optimum screen size" just isn't! On my std PC, after they had "optimised" it, the right-hand and bottom edges of the pictures were hidden. I re-adjusted it manually. So the course content is excellent, thorough and comprehensive and it's very well presented. My experience of delivery was, sadly, unsatisfactory. How does this compare with other people? I'm on fast broadband with BBC and YouTube working ok so this is unusual for me.

Training was clear and easy to follow

I found the training dvd clear precise and easy to follow. The use of video clips and visual images to explain the information was very good and I found the use of short questions at the end of each unit useful to check my understanding.

Kept having issues with videos that wouldnt play. coming up with errors and cutting out while playing and then not restarting. Then if I tried later they would play... Content itself good but getting to the content was made difficult, in the end for some of the videos I just had to read the subtitles and miss out on the videos.
