Some useful info.

Some really useful information with types of fires and the extinguishers used for them. However, the majority of the course presented some incredibly basic and rather obvious information regarding fire safety. Useful of course in educating children but for most adults working in an education setting, it felt unneccessarily detailed.

Fire tetrahedron is problematic

Speaking as a chemistry teacher, the concept of the 'fire tetrahedron' is somewhat problematic for me. The fire triangle shows which elements are needed for a fire to continue to burn and the concept of chemical chain reaction is not needed. If one element of the triangle is removed the fire will go out, and the only refinement needed to that statement is that if the element is reintroduced while the other elements are still present then it will reignite. So smothering the fire will put it out but if the smothering agent is removed while the fuel and heat are still present then it will start to burn again. A chain reaction is a specific thing in chemical terms, it is not the same as the reaction continuing.

Lots to remember

It was good to find out about the different types of fires and extinguishers but there was so much to remember- which one to use/ not to use on different fires and the colour coded- perhaps a Visual summary may help

One can never get enough knowledge about

An in depth video about all aspects of how to behave and react when in a building where a fire occurs, all of the rights and wrongs are explained about how we follow procedures. My personal fear is that I don't think that totally everyone fully understands fire rules and procedures within their place of work. When we talk about the teachings and education of fire procedures to employees, I fear not everyone grasps the facts.

Very informative

Hope I never have to tackle a real fire but found the training to be very informative about what you should do, about the different signs and fire extinguishers.
