Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2023
Every member of school and college staff is legally required to read Part one (or Annex A, where Governing bodies deem appropriate) of the KCSIE document. It provides statutory guidance for schools and is put together by the Department of Education. Our online version of the KCSIE document allows you to keep tabs on who has and who hasn't read the guidance.

Course contents
This training course is broken down into 3 sections
- 1 Part one: Safeguarding information for all staff
- 2 Annex A: Safeguarding information for school and college staff
- 3 Annex B: Further information
SECTION 1
In this section, staff will gain a better understanding of the importance of their role and how they can play a crucial role in preventing safeguarding issues.
SECTION 2
Annex A is a condensed version of Part one. Annex A can be given to staff who do not directly work with children, if "the governing body or proprietor think it will provide a better basis for those staff to promote the welfare and safeguard children".
SECTION 3
Annex B contains important additional information about different forms of abuse and safeguarding issues. Leaders in Schools/Colleges and staff who work directly with children should read this.

Brilliant Course
A must for all in Education good reminders and keeps it fresh for the role.
Fantastic delivery
The course was interactive and engaging. It was split up into reading and videos which helped me retain the information.
Insightful and educational but wordy
All the information included in this course is vital and extremely informative. It has allowed me to learn a great deal about safeguarding, and the response that must be taken in different scenarios. However, this is clearly ~10,000 words, so to spring a ten questions quiz afterwards was a little nerve-wracking. Specifically, I was worried I would not be able to recall the information a question sought as I had just read through so much! I would suggest integrating this multiple choice questions throughout the text, and including a few more of them. Not only would this allow us to be tested on more of the policies, but it means we're being asked about a section right after we've read it. I think this would allow us to remember the information better going forward, and overall make the test less daunting at the end!
