This section will give you an understanding of the background information you need to know about the GDPR, including what personal data is, what processing is, controllers, processors, and data subjects & the ICO.

The Principles of the GDPR embody the spirit of the Regulation and so it’s important that you’re familiar with them. Following them is essential and failing to do so can result in some of the harshest fines allowed under the Regulation. There are 7 principles in total which we’re going to look at in the rest of this section.

About this course

This UK GDPR in Education Training is aimed at anyone working within the Education sector and provides an in-depth look at the GDPR, with a specific focus on protecting children's data.

703 data breach incidents at UK academies and other schools were reported to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) in 2016/17.

This course has been created for employees who are responsible for implementing or managing GDPR/Data Protection in their workplace. This training focuses on Children’s data and will give staff an understanding of their responsiblilties when it comes to data protection within an Educational institute.

Remember, if you rely on consent in order to carry out any processing activities, only children aged 13 and above can legally give consent. For anyone younger, you'll need parental consent.
