These past couple of weeks have been strange and challenging to say the very least. Many people’s lives have changed drastically and businesses across the world are having to adapt to remote working.

How our clients are using iHasco to adapt to remote working

Many of our clients have unfortunately felt the full force of this pandemic and we’re doing everything we can to support them, but in this time of difficulty, we’ve also heard from clients that have been lucky enough to adapt to remote working very quickly and have found our system to come in very handy.

We’ve seen an increase in the number of our training sessions completed this month. For many of our clients, this is an opportune time to get staff up to speed with working at home safely and/or other compliance training. Here’s how just a few of our clients have been using this time to benefit their organisations…

We’re using iHasco in several ways throughout this difficult period. All our staff and students are now based at home and we’re continuing to work and teach remotely. Everyone has been reissued with the Display Screen Equipment course to help them with setting up their home offices and the Coronavirus Awareness course to help them stay safe. We have also made available the Time Management course as staff adjust to working in a different way from home.

A number of our staff are unable to work remotely due to the nature of their roles but we’re ensuring they’re up to date with all their standard training on iHasco and have shared the full catalogue of courses with them and added 20 or more courses based on users requests. Our aim is to come back from this better and stronger with new knowledge which we’re ready to put into practice!

Staff are able to complete training while on furlough and iHasco provides a great platform for delivering that in a convenient and accessible format which they can work on from home with no risk and which they can fit around childcare commitments etc..

What about furloughed staff?

You can still give your furloughed staff iHasco training but cannot make it compulsory if their furloughed wage takes their salary to less than minimum wage.

Here’s what the Government say:

Once you are on furlough you will not be able to work for your employer, but you can undertake training or volunteer subject to public health guidance, as long as you’re not:

· making money for your employer
· providing services to your employer

If workers are required to, for example, complete training courses whilst they are furloughed, then they must be paid at least the NLW/NMW for the time spent training, even if this is more than the 80% of their wage that will be subsidised.
