Compliance

It’s important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

Risk Assessments provide a structured way of looking at risks and help create a plan of action to deal with them. Whatever the size of your company, you are legally obliged to assess the risks. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require Risk Assessments to be completed by all employers and self-employed people.

Every employer shall make a suitable and sufficient assessment of – (a) the risks to the health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work; and (b) the risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Section 3 (1)

Risk Assessment training is a crucial part of ensuring that your employees are constantly up to date with the changing risks associated with their work. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 also stipulate that, “any assessment […] shall be reviewed by the employer or self-employed person who made it if –
(a) there is a reason to suspect that it is no longer valid; or
(b) there has been a significant change in the matters to which it relates; and where as a result of any such review changes to an assessment are required, the employer or self-employed person concerned shall make them.”
