HSE backs use of online First-Aid refresher training during COVID
Posted 4 years ago
The Health & Safety Executive have recently announced that they support the use of online first aid refresher training during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If first aiders are unable to access annual refresher training face to face during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, HSE supports the use of online refresher training to keep their skills up to date.”
Standard, practical first aid training was all but frozen during the nationwide lockdown period and although some providers have started to reopen, many are oversubscribed or are running limited sessions.
With many first aiders now working remotely and the HSE backing the use of online refresher training, using an alternative online training method as a stop-gap would appear to be the most suitable and sensible thing for business owners to turn to.
The HSE are also encouraging employers to check their first aid needs assessment and asking first aiders if there are any factors that should be considered as part of a risk assessment.
